Today I post a cover version of an old favorite of mine.
LED ER EST was founded 2007 in New York and combine analog synth music with
post punk and psychedelic. They released a number of records since then and
currently tour across Europe.
Yesterday I had the pleasure to see LED ER EST playing together with
Italian gothics Mushy in Dusseldorf, Salon des Amateurs. The venue was small
but cosy with around 50 visitors who were excited about the music. LED ER EST singer
Samuel also plays guitar and adds some rock star habitus to the otherwise synthesizer
based music which is actually a good combination for live gigs.
The song „Darkness in my soul“ originates from Solid Space in 1982 on a
tape-only release which gained a high reputation among collectors of minimal
synth music from that period.
The cover version is part of the split 12“ with Ancient Regime on Mannequin records in 2010.
It is really a nice song not typical for LED ER EST maybe, but is captures the most naive moments from the Cure and adds some more electronics to it. Dreamy.
